Leonie H. Mattison aka “Dr. Lee” is born in Jamaica, West Indies where she suffered severe abuse as a child.
Leonie emigrates with her sibling from Jamaica, WI, to New York, settling in Queens, where she completed her high school diploma.
Leonie dropped out of school and gave birth to her first child. She battled with her weight at 270lbs and suffered spiritual abuse.
Leonie was hit with Bell’s Palsy and later knocked down by a near-death stroke that culminated in depression.
Leonie hit rock bottom emotionally, professionally, financially, spiritually, and physically and decided it was time to seek God’s help to transform her life. She stepped away from everyone and went on a spiritual healing journey.
Leonie relocated her children to California. She started a “Champion in Jesus” empowerment ministry as a tool to empower trauma survivors daily with Bible-based messages to women all over the globe.

She won the Pacific Coast Business Times 40 Under 40 award and established The Thread Movement, a grassroot initiative to help women of color achieve post trauma-growth and launched the website with resources to support this vision. She launched the new logo and branding.
She published her memoir “The Thread: Let God into Your Life and Achieve Intentional Transformation” plus Beside Still Water” devotional and “The Thread Adult coloring” Book, partnered with a prison ministry and donated 100 copies to women in the Santa Barbara County Jail. She mentored and published “Struck by a Lightning Bolt” trilogy mystery children’s book with her 12-year-old daughter, developed the Thread toolkit and donated 300 books to women living in underserved communities. She launched the first Kickstarter campaign to complete development of the Thread Toolkit.
She launched Women Achieve Intentional Transformation virtual mentoring pilot program with ten women of color and published The Thread abridge book, workbook and prayer book. She entered partnership agreement with YouVersion where she features free Christian based resources to help survivors transform from trauma and crisis.
The Thread Movement secured fiscal sponsorship through Endowment for Youth Committee. Women Achieve Intentional Transformation Cohort #1 launches with 25 women from around the globe.
